The Gold Coast by Brisbane on the eastern shore of Australia is probably best known by virtue of its other nick name: Surfers Paradise. However, instead of the beach I would like to suggest an hour drive due west, into the woods and Lamington National Park with the resort O'Reillys! Here is everything you could dream of: mud, jungle, snakes, leaches and tonnes of mosquitos; hardly your average day at the beach! The most common and largest creatures are the Crimson Rosella - put some seeds in your hands and they come flying from all directions; perch on arms, shoulders and head and start the frenzy on your eatables. The contrast in the colours are overwhelming, and the memories never fade!
