If you ask an anestesiologist or trauma surgen about the concept of the Golden Hour you run the risk of an erroneous answer. They start their mantras about time from injury to treatment, mortality and morbidity. Completely wrong! The Golden Hour is actually the Golden Hours and they occur one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset. It's the time when everything has that golden shine from the magic rays of a low sun - in short the Magic Hours! I spent a Magic Hour in South Africa - some half hour after sunrise I encountered three male lions on the road. I stopped my car several hundred meters away and reloaded my cameras. The trio didn't care, but continued towards me, closer and closer. And closer and closer... And yet closer! One of them finally almost touched my front wing and when his more than 180 kg had passed my rear mirror he stopped for a second and looked up; straight into my eye through the open side window. My heart was beating as fast as the camera was clicking. Completely uninterested he casually lowered his head and continued walking; some second later the two others passed in a similar manner. Look him in the eye and you see the contour of my car - we were close!
