The King Penguin is a might impressive gentlement - possibly only superceeded by the Emperor Penguin. This particular specimen raised his chest infron of the camera, maybe a nice lady was standing behind me? Macquaire Island, south of the New Zeeland mainland, is inhabited by a large colony of King penguins; in thousands they stand, tightly together in order to collectively protect themselves from the mighty weather. Their smoking-like plumage and the fact that they all turn their back to the wind, makes the whole colony shift color depending on your own location. In spite of their social looks, there is a constant battle for the tiny land available to each individual - it's not exactly quiet...
